FCC Transactions from August 29, 2018
In this week's FCC Transactions there are 4 themes.  First, AT&T and USCellular are swapping spectrum in the mid west and northwest.  Through these transactions AT&T is receiving 8 - 700MHz B and C block licenses while USCellular is receiving a PCS and AWS3 license.  This is a curious transaction because AT&T has access to the 700MHz FirstNet spectrum in all of these markets.  This will allow AT&T to increase their 700MHz LTE channel by 5MHz in some markets and in CMA406, AT&T will be able to finally launch 700MHz LTE (a 10MHz channel).
The second theme has Verizon acquiring two AWS1 licenses from Mediapolis Telephone in Illinois and Iowa.
The remaining themes involve the 700MHz guard band channel.  Avista Corporation is acquiring 3 licenses in the Northwest from Access 700 and BPC Spectrum.  In addition, MitoTec is leasing 11 licenses across the southwest, mid west, and northeast from Access 700.
