Weekly Spectrum Transaction Summary - December 4, 2020 February 4, 2021 11:30

In this week's FCC transactions, T-Mobile has filed assignment applications for 4 licenses with LIberty University (VA) and the University of Southern California (CA).  The assignment with the University of Southern California (USC) is the most interesting.  USC is not assigning the 4th channel on either the KWE33 and WDD655 license.  T-Mobile currently leases each of these 4th channels, but the fact that USC is retaining ownership would indicate that they have plans to use both the A4 and B4 channels for video broadcast, preventing T-Mobile from utilizing most of the EBS/BRS mid-band segment (MBS) in the Los Angeles market area.  For T-Mobile to achieve a 100MHz channel size for 5G, they must operate across the EBS/BRS mid-band segment.  Also this week, T-Mobile files new EBS lease applications for licenses in Arkansas and Virginia from Hackett Public Schools and the F Corporation.  T-Mobile currently leases each of these licenses.  Rise Broadband also filed to re-lease an EBS license in Texas from Abilene Christian University.  In the last application, Nex-Tech Wireless filed a new lease application to access United Wireless' 700MHz lower C-block channel for two complete counties and 1 partial counties in Kansas.
