T-Mobile's Spectrum Deal: Did It Happen?
Share
Over 18 months ago, in the lead up to Auction 108, we wrote about a T-Mobile agreement to reduce their spectrum holdings in Hawaii to resolve a concern about their concentration of spectrum. In that agreement T-Mobile agreed to divest by sale or swap, 20MHz of spectrum in the AWS-1, AWS-3, PCS, or 2.5GHz bands within 12 months.
Looking through our Weekly Spectrum Transaction Summaries we find a summary from April 2, 2025 that includes a large spectrum swap between AT&T and T-Mobile and between Verizon and T-Mobile. In the AT&T transaction, T-Mobile is giving a 5x5MHz slice of PCS spectrum.
In the Verizon transaction, T-Mobile is transferring the AWS-1 E block (5x5MHz) in three Hawaiian counties (Kalawao, Kauai, and Maui).
Regarding the 1 year requirement to have transactions filed, both transactions appeared on the April 2, 2025 Daily Digest but were filed on 2/28/2025 and 3/6/2025, within the 1 year requirement.
