FCC Transactions from April 10, 2019
In this week's spectrum transactions, AT&T has filed to acquire 2 AWS-1 licenses in Michigan from Agri-Valley Communication (Thumb Wireless) and 1 - 700MHz license in Indiana from Ligtel Communications. I believe the 700MHz acquisition continues AT&T's quest to fortify their non-FirstNet 700MHz spectrum for a low band 5G play. AT&T has also filed to acquire a cellular license in Texas from TX-10 Licensee. Sprint and C Spire have filed transactions for a spectrum exchange where Sprint receives PCS spectrum in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee while C Spire further concentrates its holdings in Mississippi. Sprint has also filed to acquire 6 - BRS licenses in Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois. Sprint has recently filed leases on all of these licenses or they previously leased this spectrum. USCellular continues to roll up their partner spectrum assets to the parent company by acquiring spectrum licenses from Barat Wireless and Carroll Wireless in Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Washington. In addition, USCellular has filed to acquire 3 - 700MHz licenses in Iowa from Chat Mobility and 1- 700MHz license in Iowa from Grand River Communications. Lake Country Internet continue to acquire leases for the 700MHz guard band channel in 1 Pennsylvania county and 10 Virginia counties. Finally, Sprint is leasing parts of their PCS spectrum in Maine to Wireless Partners. Most of these leases are partial county leases.
