FCC Assignment Transactions posted on March 28, 2018 

In this week's transactions, T-Mobile and Cross Wireless exchanged spectrum licenses in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Northeast Texas with T-Mobile receiving AWS-F band spectrum in Benton and Washington counties, and Cross Wireless receiving 2.5GHz of PCS spectrum in McCurtain county, OK and AWS3-G band spectrum in Pawnee County, OK and Delta, Lamar, and Red River counties, TX.   Appalachian Wireless is acquiring 600MHz-A spectrum in 8 Kentucky and Tennessee counties.  Sprint complete 2 new leases for EBS licenses in the Chicago area, and 1 new lease in Chattanooga, TN.  The last transactions involve leases from Silver Star Telephone to Gold Star Communication in the Wyoming markets.

FCC Assignment Transactions posted on March 21, 2018  

In this week transactions, T-Mobile (through Iowa Wireless) continues to acquire the minor PCS and AWS spectrum owners in the Des Moines MTA.  Sprint's lease to the City of Donalsonville, GA is interesting.  From the FCC application public interest statement:  "Lessee is in the process of completing a system whereby it will provide fixed broadband services to residents of Seminole County, including students in the County that do not have access to and cannot afford broadband services."  This is surprising because the core of Sprint's 2.5GHz LTE network has typically been the BRS (owned) channels and they are authorizing the city to build a fixed broadband network on this spectrum.  The remaining transactions show some leasing between Sprint and two different regional operators, Great Woods/Phoenix Wireless in the Northeast, and Alaska Wireless in Alaska.

FCC Assignment Transactions posted on March 14, 2018 

In this weeks transactions, T-Mobile (through their Iowa Wireless subsidiary) continues to roll up the independent spectrum owners in Iowa.  AT&T is acquiring  700MHz C block spectrum in Kentucky and Virginia for their 700MHz (non-FirstNet) LTE.  First Communications is leasing back most of the LMDS (28-31GHz) spectrum that they sold to AT&T.  T-Mobile retains access to 850MHz of the the spectrum in Lima, Findley, Mansfield, Sandusky, and Ashtabula, OH.  Smith Bagley leases lower 700MHz spectrum from AT&T in their Arizona and New Mexico markets.  These leases are in rural areas outside of AT&T's current coverage.  This rural roaming strategy is similar to ATNI"s (Commnet) strategy in many western states.

In today's Spectrum Summary we want to highlight a couple of transactions.  

• Verizon acquiring PCS spectrum from USCellular in 5 markets.  
• T-Mobile is continuing to acquire permanent rights to the spectrum that Iowa Wireless has typically leased in Iowa.
• AT&T receiving from USCellular 2 - 700MHz licenses in Iowa.
• Sprint acquiring some of Flat Wireless' PCS spectrum in Texas and Arizona.
• SpeedConnect (a 2.5GHz carrier) cancelling their leases in Mississippi, making them likely available for Sprint.
• Sprint cancelling leases with Leaco Rural Telephone in Texas, Arizona, and California.  Leaco has been a Sprint regional partner.
• Sprint receiving a new spectrum lease for 2.5GHz spectrum in Chicago.
